Seven Two Partners Speaks on Alternatives at CIO Summit

On October 18th, Nicholas Rotello spoke on two panels focused on alternatives (private equity and hedge funds) during the Alpha Strategies CIO Summit in New York City.

The Private Equity panel focused on some very interesting “off-the-run” opportunities such as drug rights, music rights, and Africa.  We also addressed the challenges of finding great Small/Mid buyout firms.

The Hedge Fund panel focused on long/short equity strategies.  Panelists gave their views on recent performance, risk in the class, and how to succeed long-term.  Some of the strategies specifically focused on were Japan-focused, Latin America-focused, and managers with great short ability.

We were in the company of very well esteemed panelists, and it was a honor to be able to share our views with the attendees.  The biggest surprise we heard during the summit was when a speaker gave a very compelling case for US government bonds…yes, Bonds! He basically argued their value for a flight to quality environment. We see that as a very interesting viewpoint and the kind of contrarian thinking we always value taking into account.

If you managed to see either of the panels that Mr. Rotello participated on, please contact us and give us your feedback.
